Hi! I am Nipuni Gunarathne, a Virtual Volunteer from AIESEC in Sri Lanka work hand in hand with AIESEC in HWUM Malaysia for Clean Our Plate project. I so merrily contemplate myself as a constructive environmental enthusiast. In a world where ordinary nature lovers dissipate from men and towns to the wild woods, downs and wilderness, I place myself as an active person that tries to create the pulchritude even within the hoisted sky scrapers. My vision is to institute a culture where people seek underrated dimensions of problems that are small in size but massive in terms of results.
Within my search for such problems I came across with food wastage trauma and I learnt the very cooking oil that gives pleasantries to our taste buds has the potential to become a massive predicament if we do not dispose it the doctor ordered way. Negligent banishing of cooking oil to sinks can create many consequences such as river pollution, clogged drainage and so on and so forth. The less concern of authorities to these minor but big issues makes these problems detrimental more than we expect it to be.
I am a huge believer of the three R system (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). I believe recycling the oil to make reusable products like soap, Emergency lamps, Animal feed, Dust suppression, and Biofuels etcetera reduces the disposal of it in unhealthy ways. And I believe in reduction as well. Since oily food are considered to be less healthy to your body, the increase of boiled and grilled food intake can cause less demand for cooking oil. So on and so forth this wide topic is a must to discuss and I invite all the colleagues with a good rhapsody to join hands to hit the jackpot at the right time.
