The Story

Hello everyone. My name is Surekha Sudesan, a virtual volunteer from AIESEC of Heriot-Watt University. This is my first experience as a virtual volunteer of AIESEC and I am very thrilled to be a part of the Clean Our Plate (COP) project.

The COP is a project that made me realise how truly blessed we Malaysians are with our diverse food choices. However, it came as an extreme shock to me when i read the statistics on how much food is wasted each day and it only gets worse during the fasting or Ramadhan season. Would u believe me if i said that the accumulated amount of food wasted by each Malaysian can fill up to 16 twin towers EACH DAY!

I believe that this is a dire issue that is not given a lot of importance as it should be given and that the public should be given the chance to educate ourselves more on this issue before it is beyond repair.
