THE PROBLEM

Environmental issues are challenges that affect our natural world and the living things within it. These problems include issues like pollution (which can dirty our air, water, and soil), climate change (which causes shifts in weather patterns), deforestation (when too many trees are cut down), loss of biodiversity (when different plants and animals disappear), and waste management (how we handle our trash and recycling). These issues impact the health of ecosystems, animals, and people, so it's important to find ways to solve them and take care of our planet.

THE SOLUTION

The Global Environment Centre is a non-profit organisation that wishes to safeguard the environment and promote sustainable management of resources to meet the local, regional and global needs through smart partnerships with communities and like-minded organisations. 

GEC has rife knowledge and experience in rivers, mangroves, peat swamps and hill forest rehabilitation. GEC focus on ecological approach encourage ecosystem recovery and community involvement/development to create long-term sustainability. 

GEC believe taking action is the key to protect the environment. Therefore, they adopt the Civic Science concept as a way to empower the public in environmental matters. The concept means to bring thoughts about issues from the mind down to the heart, by giving the people the awareness, knowledge and most importantly, skill to take action on environmental matters.

GEC has successfully developed a number of environmental education modules and produced many awareness material on range of topics including peatlands, rivers, water and waste management. The modules and materials are used to train schools, universities, communities and corporate organisations.

GEC Overall Objectives

• To promote conservation and integrated management of forest, river, peatland and coastal ecosystems through nature-based solutions to reduce vulnerability to climate change and disasters. 
• To strengthen stakeholder capacity and mainstream participation in the sustainable management of natural resources for environmental stewardship and community welfare. 
• To facilitate environmental protection and sustainable development through smart partnerships between governments, private sector, communities and other stakeholders

THE IMPACT

With the estimated fund to be raised, we will channel it for the contribution to GEC’s environmental education and outreach activities GEC have been doing including the development of materials for social media and exhibitions at public events.
