The Story

Our Story

Hi everyone!

We are Isha, Ching Yao, Jared, and Haidah from the Heriot-Watt University Malaysia AIESEC LYFE project. AIESEC strives for peace and fulfillment of humankind's potential as an organization. The projects by AIESEC also align with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure their relevance to the local community needs.

The LYFE project is under Sustainable Development Goal 4. It is about quality education and is among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations. The full title of SDG 4 is "Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all".

The Problem

Underprivileged children are those who do not enjoy the same advantages or rights as most children their age, this could mean they often do not have access to quality education, shelter, healthy food, and medical care. Hence, they are at a disadvantage socially and educationally.

The underprivileged homes are currently struggling with financial difficulties to cover their daily expenses with additional costs such as educational materials for the children. These homes and centers haven't fully recovered economically due to COVID-19 and have been receiving fewer funds and donations,

The Fundraising Solution

Fundraising for underprivileged children is important for several reasons:

1. Equal Opportunities: Children born into underprivileged circumstances often face numerous challenges in accessing necessities like food, education, healthcare, and shelter. Fundraising aims to bridge this gap and provide them with opportunities that are otherwise unavailable to them.

2. Education: Access to quality education is a fundamental right of every child. Fundraising efforts can help provide scholarships, educational materials, and support programs that enable these children to gain an education. Education empowers children, enhances their prospects for employment, and breaks the cycle of poverty.

3. Humanitarian Values: Supporting underprivileged children reflects our collective commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Fundraising for them allows us to come together and make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Therefore, we have made it our mission to fundraise for underprivileged homes, splitting the amount received equally with our beneficiaries. We strive to foster a more inclusive and equitable society for all!
