LAI LAI !! Clean Everyone's Plate

The Story

Hi everyone, do you guys know that the food waste issue in Malaysia is increasing year by year, in which will bring a significant effect on our future about the supply of food and food security in our country.
To help in tackle the issue, AIESEC in University Malaysia Pahang (AUMP) will organize a Clean Our Plate project in which mainly to raise the awareness of youth and public about food waste issue in Malaysia by cultivating responsible consumption habit. The activities that going to be held in this Clean Our Plate project are awareness workshop, panel podcast discussion about the current waste issue, household composting learning workshop etc.

I am Low Kok Chung, a student and also a member of AIESEC in UMP. I started this online campaign to raise funds with the objective of increase the awareness of youth about Malaysia food waste issue and how they can contribute in it for our future through a series of workshops and consistent communication initiatives. The funds collected will be used by us to run this project that is going to take place in Pahang, together with volunteers that we recruited. 

Based on my experiences during the 2019 Clean Our Plate project, the attitude of students that we engage and deliver the awareness workshop really show changes toward their habit in food consumption and reduce the waste produced after our interview with students and teachers.

We expect to be able to increase students’ awareness of food waste and continue to influence their peers which can create a chain effect on the public about food waste issue.
