POST-FLOOD RECOVERY MISSION 2025

Background:
Malaysia frequently experiences seasonal flooding, particularly during the monsoon season between November and January. These floods result in the destruction of homes, disruption of transportation and infrastructure, and loss of income and livelihood for affected communities. While emergency relief is often provided during the early stages of disaster response, post-disaster recovery efforts are equally critical but sometimes overlooked.

Project Objectives:

  1. To provide essential relief items and hygiene supplies to flood victims during the recovery phase.

  2. To offer psychosocial support through counselling, motivational activities, and child-focused programs.

  3. To assist in the repair and restoration of basic facilities such as homes, schools, and prayer halls.

  4. To support livelihood restoration by distributing recovery kits (e.g., tools, basic equipment, farming aid).

  5. To build strategic collaboration with government agencies, GLCs, and local NGOs for holistic recovery.

Scope of Assistance:

  • Basic necessities: Mattresses, blankets, clothes, dry food items.

  • Cleanup kits: Cleaning tools, personal hygiene items, and volunteer-led home cleaning efforts.

  • Mental health support: Community counselling and motivational sessions.

  • Economic recovery: Assistance to micro-entrepreneurs who lost their income sources.

Target Locations:
Flood-prone districts in [insert states, e.g., Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor] based on current disaster forecasts and historical data.

Implementation Timeline:
November – December 2025, subject to actual flood developments and government advisories.

Target Beneficiaries:

  • Households severely affected by flooding

  • Vulnerable groups including the elderly, persons with disabilities (PWD), single mothers, and children

  • Remote and rural communities with limited access to aid

Implementation Strategy:

  • Fundraising via CSR contributions and public crowdfunding

  • Deployment of volunteers and logistical support through field operations modules

  • Continuous impact monitoring and post-mission evaluation

Expected Impact:

  • Over 500 families assisted during the post-flood period

  • Faster physical and emotional recovery for disaster victims

  • Reduced risk of post-flood diseases through improved hygiene

  • Rejuvenation of local micro-economies through targeted aid
