THE PROBLEM

The underserved communities have been the ones affected the most by the COVID-19 outbreak together with the recent flood happening in Malaysia. The disabled centres are currently struggling with financial difficulties to cover their daily expenses with the additional cost of essentials such as face masks, sanitation items and educational materials for the children. These centres are receiving fewer funds and donations due to the economic crisis caused by the virus.

THE SOLUTION

To lend a helping hand to the underserved community, AIESEC in Heriot-Watt University Malaysia aspires to help fundraise for the centres to care for the children in these trying times through our hybrid initiatives to assist these communities financially and engage the children virtually to build an inclusive community.

THE IMPACT

This campaign will provide much-needed funding to NGOs who continue to serve our most vulnerable underprivileged communities

The beneficiaries of these funds are as follows:

1. Name: IQ70Plus

Service users: Mentally challenged individuals

Number of Service Users: 70

How our funds would be helping: We will use your funds/ donations to take care of the special need individuals. All 70 residents stay in our home for free, and we need to gather funds from time to time to pay for all their daily living cost, which include meal expenses, medical bills, physiotherapy and speech therapy bill, our home utility bills, groceries, etc.

2. Name: Intellectually Disabled Association Malaysia (IDA)

Service Users: Young adults with Intellectually challenged

Number of Service Users: 22

How our funds would be helping: Daily needs and centre expenses

About the Organization/Project behind this Campaign

AIESEC in Heriot-Watt University Malaysia

Our Identity

AIESEC is the world's largest non-profit youth-run organization. It is an international non-governmental not-for-profit organisation that provides young people with leadership development, cross-cultural global internships, and volunteer exchange experiences across the globe. The organization focuses on empowering young leaders to make a positive impact on society through actions.

Our Vision

AIESEC strives for Peace and Fulfilment of Humankind's Potential as an organisation.

In today’s context, ‘Peace’ does not necessarily mean only avoiding war. Peace can symbolise a world that does not have conflicts that arise from cultural, religious, or other aspects of differences in humanity. Peace can also symbolise being in harmony with yourself. AIESEC strives to build a world where people can work towards their own understanding of peace while respecting and understanding the views of others.

Through Fulfilment of Humankind’s Potential, AIESEC strives for a world where people can be the best version of themselves.

Our Action

We place our confidence in youth because they have the passion, dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit that are needed to shape the future. They have the responsibility to improve tomorrow by choosing who they will be today. Hence, AIESEC is a platform for young leaders to run projects that are aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure its relevance to the local community needs. We aim to be part of the solution for a betterment of Malaysia.
