Crowdfunding for a Chiller Truck

THE PROBLEM

We are located in Mantin, Negeri Sembilan. We have a connection from  Selayang wholesale market in Kuala Lumpur who is willing to donate excess food (mainly vegetables) to us. Usually we would use a 14-seaters van and a 4-wheels pick up truck transfer the food back to our store. However, these vehicles were not meant for food transportation. First of all, the van was meant to be a transportation for refugees to our free tuition class and the seats in the van greatly reduce the space available in the van for food transportation. Besides, our pick up truck has far less space than the amount of food we received while some food will inevitably be exposed under extreme heat during the transportation. As a result, some food would be spoiled by the time it reached our store due to long exposure to extreme heat and contribute to food wastage which is in contrast with our principles.

THE SOLUTION

We would like to buy a chiller truck with enough capacity to transport the food in one trip. This would save travelling cost and time. In addition to that, a chiller truck would provide a better condition to keep the food fresh during transportation. This would help us to minimize food wastage in lieu with our zero food wastage principle.

THE IMPACT

Once completed, we would have an excellent condition for food transportation. This would reduce food wastages as the food would remain fresh as it reach our store. As a result more people would receive fresh vegetable for free.
