About the NGO behind this Volunteer Position

Wadah Malaysia

Wadah Malaysia is a registered society and is a representative of Wadah Titian Harapan.

Wadah Titian Harapan is an international Jakarta-based foundation established "From women, By the community, For all." It grew out of a need to bring hope to people by helping them help themselves and share a better future for their families and their community.

Wadah was founded in 2008 to specifically address the special needs of women as they participate in social, educational, community and cultural activities.

Operating at marginalized and underprivileged levels in the society, WADAH supports people by offering the opportunity to manage their lives beyond family survival, lifting them out of the spiral of illiteracy and poverty.  WADAH’s support extends to initiatives that revive endangered traditional arts and artisan communities to ensure sustainability of their arts and crafts.

In 2014, Wadah spread its wings internationally, which saw the launching of Philippines Wanita Dan Harapan, Inc. and Pertubuhan Wadah Malaysia dan Selangor in the Philippines and Malaysia, respectively.

On February 2016, Wadah Foundation created the Wadah International Committee (WIC) which serves as the public relations and international marketing arm of the Foundation.

On July 26, 2016, Wadah Titian Harapan Foundation was granted a Special Consultative Status by United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
