The Story

Are you really OK?

"I’m fine!”

“Doing good!”

These are often the answers given to us as mental health practitioners and social workers when we engage with clients and community members and ask how they are doing. But after they were given a safe space, they would normally talk more about their problems which then make them realise they’re not actually “fine”.

My friends and I are part of the Keluarga Akrab Mencapai Impian (KAMI) team that works closely with B40 communities to give them mental health support and provide a safe space for them to talk about what they are going through. We believe that this safe space shouldn’t only be given to the privileged and to those who are able to afford mental health services, but to everyone

Due to the pandemic, financial and isolation issues have caused a spike in mental health problems. Our solution is to fundraise to ease access to mental health support.

Our goal is to raise RM 1,000. If we reach this goal, we will be releasing a video of us eating spicy ramen while chatting and sharing our thoughts on mental health issues in the community. Expect some film and series reviews related to mental health too! (promise, no spoilers!)
