It's Not About You or Me, It's About Them.

The Story

I am Ann, exactly like N. I love making a change, even in the simpliest way possible. 

To make a change,
(1) I simply decided to fundraise for this campaign which is related to Education. In Malaysia, not many students are confident about speaking in English especially for the students that I am dealing with in the East Coast Region, specifically in Kuantan, Pahang, students are coming from a background of not utilizing English as a form of communication but seeing it as a subject that is necessary to learn. Therefore, I strive to make the change in the mindset of students and hoping that they would have more confidence to speak in English. 

(2) I have also decided to step out of my neglecting mindset that food waste is just a normal habit and decided to fundraise for this campaign to raise awareness on food waste in Malaysia. Since I was young, I was taught not to waste food but little did I know even the slightest waste could be food to somebody else. 

Speak Up project makes me realised of how privilege I am to be able to use English as a basic communication tool and with this, I hope this privilege can be shared by everyone as well, focusing on these students that I once dealed with. I also hope that Malaysians will be more aware that it takes a lot of hardwork to produce the food serves on the table, to practice simplicity in daily food consumption and be more emphatic towards surrounding in terms of consumption.

Your support will help us to create a more sustainable and innovation activities to facilitate students' engagement and interaction throughout the project. With this, students are able to enjoy the process in the project and indirectly, interacting comfortably to increase their confidence in speaking and raising awareness about food waste.
