Hi, This is Fenella - the program manager to BRAVE program. Prior joining SOLS Health, I worked at the United State, providing therapy services to children and families. I am grateful to be part of SOLS Health team upon my relocation to the country. With this platform, I am given such great exposure and involvement in the community services. This work can be challenging at times, though I am grateful to have good support from my colleagues, and insightful supervisions from my direct superiors.
Thank you for taking a minute or two to read this post. As numerous studies have shown, there are detrimental effects on both children and adults when trauma goes unnoticed or untreated. The objective of the BRAVE program is to focus on capacity building of service providers (e.g.: caregivers, social workers, teachers, doctors) who work directly with traumatized populations. The traumatized populations we are currently focusing on are primarily women and children, who have had the courage to run away from the perpetrators and start a new life.
One of the main struggles of the mothers who have been traumatized by domestic violence is prioritizing their basic needs. Most of them would rather spend their time working in order to support their family rather than working on their mental well-being. Advocating for the domestic violence survivors is the main reason for this fundraising.
I believe every person deserves love and respect. Yet, for these populations who have struggled from abusive relationships, being abused and neglected by people who are close to them, they will eventually forget the feelings of being loved and respected. They might constantly be feeling fear and insecurity, flooded with the feelings of guilt and shame, and portraying their emotions out as anger and frustration. Therefore, through this platform and this campaign, we want to send out a message to these women that their emotional needs are equally important, and they are worthy of love and care from the community.
Once again, thank you for your contribution. No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
Note: Please be informed that the tax exemption will only be provided to Malaysians who donated RM50 and above upon request.
