THE PROBLEM

Once a great wise man said "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me".Holding on to these principles, especially during this challenging times of Covid-19, I took a quick initiatives through the NGO that I am in, namely Persatuan Kebajikan Transformasi Selangor dan Kuala Lumpur, to help the homeless, refugees, migrant workers, B-40 poor Malaysian families, the indigenous groups as well as the frontline medical staff and police officers. And we continue to help them, whenever funds are made available to us from kind donors.

These group of people are the needy ones, especially those who are on daily wage earners, and could not earn a single cent during the MCO period. They hardly can meet their daily needs, what's more on paying their house rentals. Many are also having young children needing milk powders etc. The homeless in KL requires packed food to eat as they are placed at the centres around KL. The frontliners need PPE such as faceshield and suits to protect them.

THE SOLUTION

Our mission is to bring positive changes to communities in particular the urban poor living in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur from welfare aspect by providing assistance in the form of food distribution, financial, educational, job opportunities, counselling etc. to those who are in need including to forge unity among the communities.

We are currently seeking donations so that we may continue to support the following groups during the Covid-19 MCO and CMCO period:

1) Homeless groups – The homeless in KL are brought to 10 DBKL centres in Kuala Lumpur. We are supporting one of the centres by providing packed food for lunch and dinner. There are 70 individuals at this centre.

2) Refugees and Migrant workers – These groups consist of Myanmar refugees, Pakistani refugees, Bangladeshi and Indonesian migrants. Currently we are supporting 1100 families with a total of about 4500 individuals. They receive grocery and fresh meat supplies and to some, financial assistance too.

3) B-40 and Disabled (OKU) groups - Poor Malaysians with the family household income of less than RM3860 per month, with some families earning below the poverty line of RM950. This includes the Iban families we are assisting. There are about 185 families with a total of 800 individuals We provide assistance in the form of dry and wet groceries and for some groups, financial aid.

4) Front-liners : Medical staff and police officers. We have donated about 14,000 face shields, majority in Perak state hospitals and government clinics. We have also allocated some of the donation to the police personnel. We have also sent some face masks to Sabah government based clinics as well as to Myanmar refugees.

THE IMPACT

It is the overwhelming joy that you can experience when you are part of the team that is able to contribute their lives to be a better one, in fact being able to survive during this challenging period. Their tears of joy, their gratitude to you and their smiles when receiving your help is enough to make an impact for you throughout this lifetime. Join me to be part of this wonderful experience and journey!

For a breakdown, we generally split this into:

a) Homeless - 25%

 b)  Refugees and Migrant workers - 30%

c) B-40 and Disabled (OKU) -  30%

d) Front liners : 15%

If God has touched your heart to help this initiative, please consider donating to our campaign.
